Normandy coast from Paris — Honfleur, Étretat and Deauville with your chauffeur
Honfleur and its old harbour, the white cliffs of Étretat, the boardwalk at Deauville, Rouen on the way — two hours from Paris, with the sea at the end of the road. A day of painters' light, seafood and salt air. I collect you at your hotel, we follow the coast at your pace, and you are back in Paris for the evening.
A day on the Normandy coast, the way I usually plan it
A typical outline — Honfleur and Étretat are the classic pair; Deauville and Trouville suit those who want the beach and the boardwalk; Rouen can be a stop on the way out. We choose together.
West out of Paris on the A13, following the Seine. Water, chargers and WiFi on board. Optional stop in Rouen for the cathedral and the old market square.
The Vieux Bassin and its tall slate houses, the wooden church of Sainte-Catherine, the galleries and the market. Time for a walk and a coffee on the quay.
A table reserved on the harbour at Honfleur, or in Trouville for the fish market — oysters, sole, cider.
The cliffs that Monet and Courbet painted: the Porte d'Aval and its needle, the walk up to the chapel, the beach of grey pebbles. Allow an hour and a half.
Time permitting, the boardwalk at Deauville and its beach cabins, then the Pont de Normandie back towards Paris.
Back at your hotel in the early evening.
Why go with First Class Concept
Normandy coast — your questions
How far is Honfleur from Paris by car?
About 195 km — roughly 2 hours 15 minutes by motorway. Étretat is another hour up the coast via the Pont de Normandie. With an 8 am departure you have a full day and are back in Paris around 7 pm.
Honfleur, Étretat or Deauville — which should we choose?
Honfleur for charm and galleries, Étretat for the cliffs and the walk, Deauville for the beach and the boardwalk. Honfleur and Étretat together make the classic day; add Deauville if you prefer a shorter stop at Étretat. I will suggest the combination that fits your pace.
Can we add Rouen or Giverny on the way?
Yes. Rouen is directly on the route and worth an hour for the cathedral and the old town. Giverny is a short detour on the way out — a morning in the gardens, then the coast in the afternoon. Both are easy to write into the day.
Is the day suitable for children?
Very much so: the harbour at Honfleur, the pebble beach at Étretat, the cabins at Deauville. The V-Class gives a family space and quiet on the road. I adapt the pace and the stops.
What is the best time of year?
Late spring to early autumn for the light and the terraces; September and October are quieter and often beautiful. Étretat on a stormy day is spectacular, but the cliff walk needs reasonable weather.
