Giverny from Paris — Monet's gardens with your private chauffeur
Monet's water lilies, the Japanese bridge, the pink house and its studio — about an hour and a quarter from Paris. I collect you at your hotel, you spend as long as you like in the gardens, and I bring you back. No coach, no group, no fixed schedule: this is your day.
A day in Giverny, the way I usually plan it
This is a typical outline — every detail is adjusted with you before departure. Early departure is the secret: you walk into the water garden before the coaches arrive.
Water, chargers and WiFi on board. We leave Paris by the A13 towards Normandy, along the Seine valley.
Timed entry, no queue. The Clos Normand flower garden, the water garden with its lilies and Japanese bridge, then the house and the studio. Allow a generous two hours.
A table reserved at a restaurant in Giverny or in the neighbouring village of Vernon — or a picnic by the Seine, if you prefer.
Half-day guests head back to Paris around 1 pm. Full-day guests can add the museum, the Vernon old town, or a stop at the Château de La Roche-Guyon.
Back at your hotel in the late afternoon, in time for an evening in the city.

Giverny — your questions
How long does it take to get from Paris to Giverny by car?
About 1 hour 15 minutes door to door from central Paris, traffic permitting. Leaving before 9 am avoids both the Paris exit traffic and the first coach arrivals at the gardens.
Is a half-day enough for Giverny?
Yes. Allow about two hours on site for the house and both gardens, plus the drive each way — around five hours in total. A full day lets you add lunch in the village, the Musée des Impressionnismes or a stop in Vernon.
When are Monet's gardens open?
The Fondation Claude Monet opens from spring to early November and closes for the winter. Late April to June is the most spectacular period for flowers; the water lilies are at their best in July and August. I will confirm opening dates and times for your travel date.
Do I need to book tickets in advance?
Strongly recommended, especially from May to September. Timed-entry tickets let you skip the queue at the entrance. I can arrange them for you through our concierge service, or advise you on how to book.
Can we combine Giverny with another destination?
Yes. Popular pairings for a full day are Giverny and Versailles, Giverny and the Château de La Roche-Guyon, or Giverny on the way to Rouen or Honfleur. Tell me what you have in mind and I will write the itinerary.
How much does a private day trip to Giverny cost?
There is no price grid: every proposal is written for your date, your group size and your programme. You receive a written, all-inclusive quote within 2 hours — vehicle, chauffeur, fuel, tolls and waiting time included.
Shall I plan your day in Giverny?
Tell me your date and what you would like to see. I will come back to you with a written proposal within 2 hours.
